About Me
My name is Ann-Marie Metcalfe and I'm a mother, wife and housewife. Jack of all trades and master of none!
I discovered photography about 4 years ago and fell in love with being able to share what I see in the world around me. If we go out somewhere, my camera comes too. I've often heard sniggers from my family as I've been crawling around the garden taking photographs of bugs or flowers, but they stop sniggering when they see the resulting shot.
I don't specialise in any particular area of photography as my favourite subject changes often. I do however, like to be able to capture close up detail that many people would often miss. My current favourite genre of photography is motorsport. I've always been a racing fan so being able to combine watching a race live and taking photographs at the same time is a great way for me to spend the weekend.
My family are very supportive of my love of photography, and often wait around while I get a shot that I've spotted out on our travels, although I realise it can be very frustrating for them sometimes when I keep stopping and putting a halt on our outing. I think they're used to it now.
I have learnt so much, over the last couple of years via some excellent photographers. I run a photographic website where members share their photographs and knowledge of photography. The Photographers' Corner has been a great asset to my photographic journey, and will forever be in debt to the friends I have met on the site who have always been prepared to answer any 'stupid' questions I have asked. I have always appreciated suggestions on how to improve an image, or a 'well done' when something has worked out right.
